Michelin scoops Tyre of the Year award

Michelin's new Pilot Road 4 range has been named Motorcycle News' Tyre of the Year after extremely positive feedback from riders, dealers and reviewers.

Michelin is proud to have won the prestigious Motorcycle News Product of the Year - Tyre award for 2014.

The Tyre of the Year accolade went to Michelin’s Pilot Road 4 range, which was launched commercially earlier this year. Response to the range – which includes sport, trail and GT versions – has been extremely positive, with accolades from dealers and consumers alike.

James Dimmock, Marketing Manager for Michelin Motorcycle, said: "The reaction to Pilot Road 4 from the industry and riders has been fantastic, and the Tyre of the Year honour from Motorcycle News really is the icing on the cake.

"Motorcycle News is extremely well thought of, and an endorsement like this means a great deal to Michelin's two-wheel team. The Pilot Road 3 set the benchmark for the industry, but the Pilot Road 4 has pushed boundaries significantly further."

Cutting edge technologies deliver enhanced rider enjoyment and safety whatever the conditions. Thanks to a new silica-rich compound and unique XST+ sipes, the Pilot Road 4 stops 17 per cent quicker than its nearest competitor on wet roads and 24 per cent quicker on wet, slippery surfaces such as painted road markings.

James added: "It also lasts 20 per cent longer than its predecessor so it helps the rider's money go further. We are thrilled with this recognition from Motorcycle News and we will make sure the award takes pride of place in the office."

The Pilot Road 4 range covers most road bikes of more than 600cc.
