MICHELIN X® MULTI Z2 & D2 in 19.5’’: New truck tyre generation for the last mile

Last-mile delivery in regional and urban areas is a challenge for truck drivers: heavy traffic, frequent braking manoeuvres, difficult access to certain areas, often poor road conditions and changing weather conditions are pure stress. The costs of stricter environmental regulations also put a strain on transport companies' budgets. This calls for tyres that are versatile, reliable, durable and resilient, such as the new MICHELIN X® MULTI Z2 & D2 R 19.5 tyre range for steer and drive axles. Michelin has designed these tyres specifically for frequent use by commercial vehicles under 19 tonnes on short or mid-distance-routes.

A new generation of tyres with many advantages
The MICHELIN X^® MULTI Z2 & D2 19.5’’ line stands out thanks to several features that ensure cost control and optimal safety for every trip, especially in demanding conditions, bringing peace of mind to both fleet managers and drivers:

• Enhanced mileage: MICHELIN X^® MULTI Z2 & D2 tyres offer up to 30% more mileage on the steer axle and 15% more mileage on the drive axle compared to the previous generation, for less frequent replacements and lower fleet operating costs.
• Outstanding long-lasting braking performance¹: An internal test performed under the supervision of DEKRA in June 2025 showed that when worn down to 3.5 mm of rubber, MICHELIN X^® MULTI Z2 & D2 tyres achieved wet braking distances up to 8 m shorter than their competitors (41.36 m vs. 49.29 m), a boon for drivers in urban and suburban areas. 
• All-season versatility: The 3PMSF marking guarantees consistent year-round performance for safety and easy handling in any weather and road conditions.
• Enhanced robustness and retreadability: Innovative DURACOIL technology ensures a more robust, longer-lasting casing to limit unplanned downtime and maintain the tyre's performance throughout its lifespan. This reinforcement improves casing strength and retreadability.
• Lower total operating costs²: Thanks to their fuel efficiency class C rating, higher mileage, and retreadability, these tyres offer savings of up to £814 per year and truck compared to their predecessors, the MICHELIN X^® MULTI Z/D. Furthermore, CO₂ emissions can be reduced by up to one tonne per year and truck compared to the previous model.
• Electric vehicle compatibility³: With higher load indices in 245/70R19.5 and 285/70R19.5 (e.g. +300 kg per axle compared to the previous line in 285/70R19.5, for up to 6.3 tonnes per axle with the new line), these tyres are designed for the increasing popularity of electric vehicles, since they can bear the extra weight of batteries and meet the specific needs of electric trucks.

DURACOIL: A high-quality nylon reinforcement on the bead wire provides effective protection for the casing, ensuring greater stability on the road and extending the tyre's lifespan.

REGENION: This award-winning technology is based on self-regenerating tread sculptures produced using 3D metal printing to ensure optimal grip and longevity for treads, while also reducing fuel consumption.
