16 New Bib Gourmands in the MICHELIN Guide Great Britain & Ireland 2022

11.02.2022

16 new Bib Gourmand restaurants in the MICHELIN Guide Great Britain and Ireland have today been revealed, ahead of the presentation of the MICHELIN Guide 2022 on 15th and 16th of February. Bib Gourmands are awarded to restaurants offering particularly good quality, good value cooking. Among these 16 places, 3 were already recommended in the Guide, while 13 are brand new additions for 2022.

We are excited to reveal these 16 new Bib Gourmand awards ahead of the full presentation of our 2022 selection. Bib Gourmands are an important part of our selection and are particularly popular with our readers and users, who are always on the lookout for wonderful food at great prices. All these restaurants are to be congratulated for what they have achieved in these very challenging times.

Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the MICHELIN Guides

In London, food diversity and flavours from across the globe are on the menu. Two of the new Bib Gourmands go to delightful Italian restaurants: Russell Norman’s relaxed trattoria Brutto in Clerkenwell, and the likeable manteca in Shoreditch. Two Soho restaurants also gain the award: Humble Chicken, a fun spot which serves every part of the chicken, and Imad’s Syrian Kitchen, for its generous sharing dishes with Middle Eastern flavours. In Regent’s Park and Marylebone, Indian restaurant Pahli Hill is a new addition to the guide, awarded a BG for its fresh, simple flavours.

Elsewhere in England, several seaside spots make the grade, including on-trend bistro Andria in Dartmouth, Devon, and lively Sargasso in Margate, Kent, which serves up fresh fish from small local boats. Burnt Orange in Brighton, East Sussex, offers vibrant Middle Eastern inspired sharing plates, while the menu at Kintsu in Colchester, Essex, features original tasting plates with some interesting plant-based choices. Two pubs also receive a Bib Gourmand: Sculthorpe Mill in Sculthorpe, Norfolk and The Hollist Arms in Lodsworth, West Sussex.

In the Republic of Ireland, family-owned Cush in Ballycotton enters the guide with a Bib Gourmand for its hearty dishes featuring local Cork produce, while artisan bakery, restaurant and wine bar Éan in Galway and proudly run bistro Everett’s in Waterford are promoted to a Bib Gourmand.

Finally, in Glasgow, Scotland Ka Pao is promoted to a Bib for its Asian-inspired cooking, while homely Celentano's wins the award for its modern, Italian-influenced cooking, made with the finest Scottish ingredients.

In total, there are 122 value-for-money Bib Gourmand restaurants in the MICHELIN Guide Great Britain and Ireland 2022, of which 16 are new awards.

These new Bib Gourmand awards, along with the full Great Britain & Ireland MICHELIN Guide 2022 selection, will be published in digital format on 16th February, both on the UK and Ireland websites and on the iOS and Android apps available for free.
