Michelin Training Centre celebrates win at Tyre Safety Awards 2014.

Summary

Michelin is celebrating after winning the Staff Training and Development Initiative of the Year at the Tyre Industry Awards 2014, held by the National Tyre Distributors Association.

The awards, which were voted for by customers and industry professionals, saw Michelin’s Training Centre beat Pirelli Tyres, Bridgestone UK, Autogem Invicta, and Tructyre Fleet Management to claim the title.

The Michelin Training Centre received the award thanks to its emphasis on professionalism and safety across its portfolio of technical courses. The centre delivers a wide range of programmes aimed at improving profits, standards and knowledge across the industry and beyond.

Courses cover diverse topics from tyre sales and negotiation skills for distributors, to four-day forensic technical courses for accident investigators.

Specific programmes have been developed covering car tyres, motorcycle tyres, industrial tyres, agricultural tyres and truck tyres – all aimed at bringing on the next generation of tyre technicians.

Martin Randle, sales process and training manager at the Stoke-on-Trent-based Michelin Training Centre, said: “To be acknowledged as the best in the industry for our training programmes is a great honour and this award is the result of a team motivated to deliver excellence.

“In 2013 we delivered a record number of external training courses and we are on track to beat that record in 2014. Safety, professionalism and technical expertise are recurring themes in our programmes, and it’s an approach that has led to all or courses receiving excellent customer feedback.”
