Michelin event inspires young women

Summary

Teenage girls in Dundee have been given the opportunity to meet inspirational women and learn about embarking on a rewarding career, thanks to an event hosted by Michelin.

More than 60 schoolgirls, aged between 13 & 15, attended the Michelin Inspiring Females event which was organised by the Dundee-based business and held at Dundee United Football Stadium.

Pupils heard a number of high-profile women from a range of professions talk about their careers, before asking questions about how the speakers achieved their success. Role models in attendance included Stefani Dailly, TV Presenter and journalist, Hayley Scanlan, Fashion Designer, and Deborah Miller, a Partner with Simpson and Marwick solicitors.

Lorna Reid, diversity manager at Michelin, said: “We are delighted to be hosting this event to give young girls in Dundee this unique opportunity to talk face to face to these inspiring women who either live or work locally and find out how they have managed to get where they are in their individual careers. We hope that these positive role models will give them the hope and confidence going forward that with hard work and determination they can have the career of their choice and be a success in that choice”
