First set of students from Michelin’s UK and Ireland dealer network graduate from Tyre Academy

Nine tyre fitters from dealers across the UK and Ireland have become the first to graduate from Michelin’s Tyre Academy after a year of theoretical and practical learning.

The fitters, who each work in a different Michelin Certified Centre (MCC), were chosen for the course as they have the potential to become an expert technician or take on management positions in the future.

During the year-long course, the group visited the Michelin factory in Dundee to learn more about the technology that goes into the world renowned tyres which are synonymous with grip and long life. They also spent time in the classrooms and workshops at Michelin’s dedicated training centre, close to the manufacturer’s headquarters in Stoke-on-Trent studying technical information and developing high standards of customer service.

The course finished at Silverstone, where the students were able to test Michelin tyres on the track at the Porsche Driving Experience Centre.

Michelin Academy Course Leader, Tom Dixon, said: “We designed this course to reward the most promising fitters across our network with lessons which will help them deliver the highest levels of customer care, develop their own careers and raise their confidence in the industry.

“Ultimately, Michelin produces the highest quality tyres, but it is only through the expertise and skill of tyre fitters that the potential of our products is truly brought to life for our customers.”

Michelin Certified Centres all undergo a thorough independent audit to prove they follow best practice.
